ExperiencePrior to joining Dunakey & Klatt, P.C. and being licensed to practice law, I enjoyed a variety of careers which I believe makes me a well rounded individual. For example, I have years of experience as a legal advocate for domestic violence victims and sexual assault survivors in Nebraska. I also ran support groups and performed grant writing. I am also a former restaurant general manager having managing multiple sites, budgets, personnel and objectives. DegreesI graduated from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska with both a Bachelor of Science degree in counseling and a Master of Science in Education degree focusing on Community Counseling. Then, in 2006 I completed my Juris Doctorate at the University of Iowa. While in law school I competed with the National Trial team and served on the Client Counseling Board. I focused on client counseling, as I believed then, and believe now more strongly, that in family law matters, focusing on client driven objectives and active problem solving, as opposed to directives driven by the legal system generally and litigation, result in not only more satisfying results for the parties directly involved, but also amount to cost savings and expedited resolution. Mediation TrainingI completed the Association of Conflict Resolution approved Divorce and Family Law Mediation Training in October 2008 and was certified with the Iowa Association of Mediators in April 2009.
